caroline fontenot

This weekend i got to hang out with the incredible Caroline Fontenot. You HAVE to check out her blog (click on her name..no seriously do it now), shes so incredibly creative and her coloring is so sick. i’ve come to the realization that shes sort of a female version of me. Shes loud, funny, talks a lot, and shoots a ton of awesome photos. JUST LIKE ME!!

It has been so incredible hanging out with her and her awesome husband mark who works full time at the YL camp Sharp Top Cove.

Another blessing is hanging out with our mutual friend Caroline Tigner. If you have a heart for haiti or want to be introduced into someone who does, click on her name and visit her profile. She has been to Haiti before the earthquake and had roots planted there. Of course she fled to the destroyed country when the earthquake hit. You can read all about her incredible love story on her blog!

of course. i did it again. and im an idiot for doing so. why risk my 5d? dang you MIKE LARSON!

camera toss

Thanks to the super awesome Mike Larson for the inspiration and demonstration of the camera toss. I had the morning off so i decided to try it out. First in the bedroom, then outside for greater heights! A broken 6 year old rebelXT later (i mainly used my 5d throughout the tossing though) i had a few shots that were pretty decent for my first attempt!

Hints? Well, i’d love to know a lot of the aperture, shutter speed, and throwing techniques that mike uses. I myself used an aperture of 5.0. I wish i had an L series lens so i could make the aperture larger and make a super fast shutter speed. I had to sacrifice some ISO, but (michael scott voice) its allll goood! You HAVE to use auto bracketing. My first attempts were without and i took one half decent photo every 10 really bad photos.

The first attempt in my bedroom. Probably my favorite one that came out.

Reaching new heights outside.

I love this image because of the shadows.

Make sure you catch it!!

Think these are somewhat cool? Then you HAVE to check out Mike Larson. He is killer at these!

Madi Diaz

How about madi diaz!? She is so talented its not even funny. I can not wait for her new record to come out. Her EP is insanely good. Definitely on of the top up-and-comings of nashville.

The Westbound Rangers at The Station Inn

You have to check out The Westbound Rangers. you have to. they are awesome. So young and full of talent its not even funny. When i heard they were playing a show, i dropped my plans and headed out the door with my camera. I had never been to the station inn so i didn’t know what to expect lighting-wise for the show. When i got there i was pretty disappointed because it was a sit down venue, with super cheap lighting. Apparently its a pretty old place where some big names have played early on (Dierks Bentley). I couldn’t move around or stand for that matter because i would be completely in someone’s way. I am looking forward to shooting these incredible musicians again.

Brinley Addington & Joey Hyde

Another pair of my friends Brinley Addington and Joey Hydeplayed a show together and it was sick! Click on their names to check their music out! Do it now so you can claim to all of your friends that you knew about them before they were famous. Definitely check them out if they are coming to your area!
